The Parks Children's Centre is situated in Ashmore Park and is attached to Ashmore Park Nursery School in Griffiths Drive, Wednesfield. We offer a whole range of services for mums, dads and carers to be and local families with children under the age of 5 years.
Childcare;
The Nursery offers high quality education for children age 3 to 4 years old. They provide a wrap around care service term time only 8.45 - 3.45 and a lunch club.
A qualified nursery teacher supports across the whole centre to ensure that the quality of education play and learning is consistent and helps with the transition from stay 'n' play to Early Learners into nursery school following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework.
Stay 'N' Play
We run weekly stay 'n' play sessions at different venues. All mums, dads, carers and grandparents are welcome. The resources are of a high quality and we do lots of fun activities. It is lovely a way to meet other families have a chat, and make new friends.

Early Learners Group- The Parks run an Early Learners’ Group for 2-4 year olds. This group runs a programme of activities which helps your child develop their communication skills such as attention and listening, understanding and turn taking through play preparing them for admission into nursery school.
Walkers and Talkers Group for mums, dads, carers and their babies every Thursday afternoon, which is followed by activities similar to those organised by our Stay ‘n’ Play group.

We have a Signing Stork group once a month held at the Children’s Centre which is for hearing impaired parents/carer and their children. We also have a FRIENDS Group for parents/carer with children who have downs syndrome. This runs once a month on a Saturday at the Centre.
We also have a Multiple Birth group which is run at the centre every Monday 1 till 3pm

The Centre supports local childminders and has a group running once a month. All childminders and their children are welcome to come along. The group do activities and chat about childminding and share their knowledge and expertise.

Dad’s matter too!! The Parks organises events for Dads and their children to get together and spend some special time playing and interacting with each other. The events are specific tailored around times of the year such as Halloween and Christmas. There is also a rolling programme of events running at Kingswood Outdoor Centre with transport provided.

Young Parents GroupIf you are pregnant or already have a baby/child, then come and join us every Monday to meet new friends and share experiences and have free advice on housing, benefits etc.
The family support team visit all new babies born in the area and bring information along to give to the mums, dads and carers about the services we can provide. If we cannot provide you with the service or advice you need we can sign post you as we work alongside many different agencies.
The family support team are here to help you with all aspects of family life, as life can be very difficult at times, raising a family is the hardest job in the world and most of us need a little help sometimes.
Cot gossip is a group for pregnant parents and new parents and their children under 12 months old to come together and share experiences and gain some advice.
If you need any advice or just a chat then come along to the centre or call us. We have a weekly breastfeeding support group, a weaning group and a sleep clinic. We can also come and give advice in the home, which ever suits your circumstances best.
Baby massage/Baby Yoga sessions are a wonderful way to interact with your baby. We run regular sessions at the Centre so if you want to give yourself and your baby a wonderful experience give us a call and book a place.

Would you like to stop smoking? help is at hand. We have trained staff to support you to quit. We run smoking cessation group that you can come along to or we can support you one to one in your own home. If you need more information give us a call.
Communicating with your child is most important there are many different ways of supporting your child’s communication, speech and language skills. Why not try our Baby signing sessions? They are for all children and parents to attend. We promote communication speech and language in a much more interesting, fun way please call if you need further information or to book a place. We also run baby bop, animal magic and mini movers sessions.
Home Safety Workshop – Contact the centre to book your place on our Home Safety Workshop and be able to purchase stairs gates, fire guards etc at reduced rates.
Training and employment;
We work with the Adult Education and job centre plus to support people who want to train or work.
We have connections with the CAB and benefits agency that will support you if you need advice.
The Family support team deliver many courses that can support the family for example; The Parenting Puzzle, nurturing programme and a positive parenting programme are available and all staff are trained in supporting families who are in domestic violence situations.
